Garmin nüvi 50LM Portable GPS: Instead of trying to view maps while you drive or recruit a friend to act as navigator, let this portable GPS guide you to your destination. It features text-to-speech and turn-by-turn voice prompts that audibly provide directions, so you can keep your eyes on the road.
What's great about it: Sensitive GPS receiver, can save cordinates, shows speed limit
What's not so great: Last years model, short battery life
First, the battery life is short, maybe an hour but it would normally be running off the car power so this is not a big deal unless you are planning a trip indoors and can't plug into a computer after an hour. The biggest hassle for me is not being able to save a trip with several stops, though I don't know what model has this feature. The work around is to find the places and save as favorites to be recalled at each leg of the trip. Easy to find places (poi, fuel, restaurants, etc.) near where you are. I like that it shows the speed limit and shows changes within a second. The display seems pretty good and can be read on a bright day. The unit is light weight and does a good job once you learn to use it.
This product has... Large/easy to see screen, Easy menus, Free map updates

is garmin available with us and canada maps
Mine did not have Canadian maps. The unit came with a 2GB SDHC flash card so if additional maps are purchased you would need a larger card since it is almost full.
