sonos has all your music covered, you can stream radio stations, play your play list, play your music or you can add any stereo or component to your system with this product you can separate feeds of music to your speakers or different rooms and it is so user friendly with the mobil app you can control your music what you want to hear, were you want to here it.
i have been using sonos for about 4 years now and it works great.
it is a great product.

I have a sonos system should I purchase a connect amp

only if you are adding speakers to your system that are not amplified speakers.
if you are adding Sonos speakers you do not need the Connect amp.

Do i need to purchase a volume control with the sonos connect amp? I'm adding to my existing Sonos system which have volume controls.

Note you only need the connect amp if you are adding speakers that are not from Sonos, or that are not amplified speakers. you can connect any type of speakers you would like, as long as they are not amplified speakers.
No you do not need a volume control it is in the mobil app that you download.
you control your volume with your phone or computer or tablet or whatever you want to use.
if you add a stereo make sure you use Sonos Connect, not Sonos connect Amp.
To control your volume you just set your volume control on the stereo were you would like it, and then you can still go up or down with your app.
