Purchased this Roku 3 based on a recommendation from a preferred streaming content provider. It's proven to be much more reliable & provides more consistent streams than what my SmartTV's native app can provide. Unlike similar devices from Amazon, Apple & Google, the Roku 3 is non-proprietary and seems to find the broadest range of content.
The SD card slot and high throughput/bandwidth lead me to think this unit won't become outdated for a long time.
LOVE the headphone jack on the remote, although some audio bleeding is occasionally heard as buzzing/static in the sound bar mounted below the TV. (Turning the soundbar volume down/off resolves the issue, without affecting the audio being routed to the headphones.) Be advised that this feature WILL drain the batteries in the remote fairly quickly.
Games are somewhat entertaining when using the remote as a game controller. Understand that this feature is not designed to replace your current gaming console (XBOX, Wii, etc.). But if you don't already have a dedicated game console, it's a nice introduction to that type of game format.

Purchased online. Although cheaper than comparable HDMI cables found at most walk-in retailers, I found this to be every bit as good. For general home use, don't fall for the marketing hype of "superior" cables. Here's why:

number of devices needed

Do I have to buy one of these devices for every tv in the house (ex- 4 TV's need 4 roku devices)
If you want to stream the same content/program to all fourTVs simultaneously, you might be able to do it with only one Roku device. But that would require a signal splitter of some sort, four labor intensive cable runs and, possibly, an array of HDMI-to-CAT 5/6 or coaxial converters.

I'd think buying a separate Roku device for each TV would be a much cleaner and simpler solution.
