Unfortunately I have an old Windows program that isn't available for Mac. (It's a niche program for a niche industry) Soooo, instead of pirating a copy of XP Pro, I did the "right" thing and purchased Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.
Not only is it Windows, but it's Windows 8. It features a poorly utilized "Tile" interface which I and everyone I know completely bypasses so they can get to the familiar "Desktop" mode. After that, anything you want to do is convoluted. Want to print? You need to manually install a driver. You can't even utilize the built-in mail client, Outlook, without signing up for a Microsoft account and giving them even more of your info. Save yourself the time, trouble, and hassle; Purchase a Mac and use the Mac OS.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We purchased this drive to accompany our WD MyCloud product and allow for automatic back-ups of the MyCloud safe points. We've been extremely impressed. Although we mainly use it for backups, there has been an occasion where I'll connect to the drive directly. The USB 3.0 connection is very fast and the drive is rock solid. Next time the unit goes on sale, we're buying additional units for our home office.

After a messy situation with a generic ink cartridge years ago, I've only used manufacturer's ink since. The EPSON High-Capacity cartridges always go in clean, last longer than expected, and never fail. I'd recommend this cartridge on it's own, and the high-capacity multi-pack for any of EPSON's printers.

On a recent trip to America's Tech Headquarters, our son saw this piece of technological achievement and negotiated a peace accord in order to coerce his mother and I into purchasing this miraculous wonder and bringing it back to our domicile.
I was informed by my son that this particular Skylander is "One million times better than the other Skylanders." I have no way of scientifically testing that theory, but he did play with this one for five whole minutes, as opposed to the three minutes of attention the other Skylanders received when they were first brought into the fray.
Quick Draw appeared on screen exactly as he did in physical form and functioned correctly. But what is really impressive about Quick Draw is that after joining his fellow Skylanders on the bedroom floor of a six-year old, it doesn't hurt nearly as much when you step on him, versus the sheer pain and terror experienced after you step on his cohorts when responding to the calls for water and snacks coming from the evil genius that is operating down the hall from your room.
Bottom line: Take this Skylander Home and leave your child on the shelf in its place. If you're lucky, the staff at Best Buy won't notice until you're miles down the road, smiling at your new found peace, quiet and freedom, while you look forward to playing Skylanders on your Xbox and not having to share with any greedy children.

We've been a fan of the iPad for a while, and the iPad Air is no exception. The new model features a thinner and lighter design, great battery life, and the ever-sharp, crisp, and vibrant Retina Display.
We purchased the LTE-enabled version and are always using it on the go. We're running Microsoft's CloudDrive Office Suite and use the iPad as an (almost) laptop replacement. We've paired it with a bluetooth keyboard and stylus to get the most out of our apps, and it works beautifully.
Set up is a breeze, and battery life isn't an issue. With light to moderate use (so far) we get plenty of power.
The iPad air is definitely a great combination of capability, compactness, and value!

The product itself is a classy and extremely handy addition to an iPad. The light up keys, USB functionality and rechargeable battery makes you feel like you have a small laptop, not just an iPad. It's design protects the iPad's screen when closed and it's extremely handy to have a full, tactile keyboard attached to the tablet.
Unfortunately, if tilted too far open, the keyboard enclosure can break open causing the whole case to malfunction.
Bottom line: this is a great case, if you take care of it and treat it correctly.

While much has been written about Apple's products, what makes this computer great is it's speed, power and portability. The 13" is extremely light, and the tapered design lets us easily take the computer every where we go. We use it for work and play and it has plenty of horsepower under the hood. We've produced video presentations with it and it offers us the smoothest interface to our cloud programs.
The display is bight, crisp, and vivid, and the computer does everything we need! The battery lasts most of the day, and the system starts and wakes almost instantly! The Mac OS is SO much simpler to use than Windows 8, so you actually ENJOY using the computer. This is a perfect system for students and professionals alike who need more than an iPad, but don't need a full iMac.

This need external power source ?
Yes. It includes an AC Adaptor that must be used to power the unit. The unit will NOT operate with just USB power alone.

Can this provide auxiliary storage for a DirecTV DVR, using a SATA cable?
DirecTV DVR's have SATA ports that enable external drives to be connected. The DVR will format the drive, and the hard drive inside the DVR will be inaccessible while the external drive is connected. Does this drive have an SATA port, and does it come with an SATA cable?
The external case of the drive only has a power connector, a USB 3.0 connection, and a Kensington lock connector. You may be able to crack open the case and access the internals, but I haven't gone that far.
