I got these to replace AAA battery operated ones. These are way better even a little more range as I walk around the house. They work great for listening to the TV when everyone else is sleeping. When I first used them on a game the sound came from the wrong side. Turned out that they sit backward from how I thought they would go but I've gotten used to them now.

Are they virtual, or true surround?

Since there is only one speaker on each side I would say virtual. But it does seem to work pretty well IMHO.

Can I use the PX4 as a wireless headset for my iPad?

The Bluetooth only seems to work for talking on the phone. Can't play music or game sounds through it, from a mobile device.

Would these work with a Windows laptop with Bluetooth?

The Bluetooth only send to work for talking on the phone. Can't play music or game sounds through it on a mobile device.

Could it be used for a tv with a digital audio output?

It only has optical in, optical out, and analog in as connections on the base unit.
