Just needed to extend the wifi a small distance to get signal for my bedroom. This range extender works great and increased my wifi speed greatly.

Since the extender has an Ethernet port, can I just plug in the extender, then use an Ethernet cable from the extender to my Xbox or laptop? If not, what else would I need?

As long as the extender is getting signal from your router, you can plug a device into it with an Ethernet cord.
