Can you view DVD;s on it?
Yes, with a DVD player. You can use channel 3 RF output, composite video, component video, or HDMI outputs from a DVD player.

How many watts does the TV use while on?
I am a truck driver and would like to install this TV in my truck. I know I will require an AC/DC inverter because the TV is not 12v. So I am curious how many watts the TV will use while on. Thank you.
The 19 and 22 inch sets use a small power supply in the power cord.
The jack on the back of the tv set says DC 14V. It might work okay with 12 volt dc from your cigarette lighter. In fact, the car battery is often 13 to 14 volts when fully charged. I would measure the output of the power cord and check the polarity (is the center pin +14V or -14V with respect to the outer sleeve of the power plug?)

The total height with the stand provided is 12 1/2 inches.

Transmitter on Connection Cord??
I read on another web site there is a transmitter on the cord you plug in from the tv to the wall outlet.
Is this true? and if so, what is the purpose of the transmitter?

There is a small POWER TRANSFORMER in the power cord. The TV is powered by a lower voltage such as 12 volts DC from the power transformer.

is it cable-ready or requires a cable box?
Yes it is cable ready. I use it on Cox cable. (you will need the cable box for scrambled movie channels)
