The handsets continually display "New Voice Mail"...

The handsets continually display "New Voice Mail" even though it hasn't been configured to link with a cell or check cell voice mail and no messages (new or otherwise) are on the answer device portion of the system. I am absolutely at a loss as to how to clear this message from the handsets.
