I purchased this drive for backup purposes in preparation for swapping the OEM Apple SSD for a more capacious SSD. The backup and restoration went flawlessly. Now the drive is used for routine backup via Time Machine. The available colors and bumpers are a nice touch for selecting the drive and protection from bumps. Recommended.

I have a early 2008 iMac, only have 2.0 USB port or 800 firewire.
Yes the drive can be used with a USB 2.0 connection.
