Wish this had been available in black. For this older model cover, grey is the only choice.

What's great about it: Everything! Easy to set up and use. I just works.
What's not so great: Nothing
For a one time price and easy setup, this replaces several subscription cloud-based services that I have been using. Both local and remote access work perfectly, and I am able to share files with others with a simple click via email. 3 TB for me is plenty big!
I have been using this device for about a month now, and it just works. My single word review: Wow.
This product has... Reliable, Attractive design/portable, Quiet, Large capacity/good size
About me... Budget Conscious, Technology guru, Work with large multimedia files, Business Professional, Need a simple backup solution

Access away from home?

If this is connected to my home network would it be possible that I could access this away from home if I know the IP address or something else?
You can access this drive from virtually anywhere. In my case it is connected to my home network in Florida, and I have accessed it from California, New York, and other locations in Florida--both from a computer and from an iPad (there's a free app). You can also send links via email to others and they can download files you want to share with them.

Tranfer music to iPad?

Will this work to transfer mp3 files to my iPad so I can play/see them in the music player?
Just tried this. It will stream music to your iPad and you can listen, but doesn't let you open in iTunes.

External Rip..

Can I directly hook up an external rip onto the WD device and rip all my movies to it or does it has to go from my external rip and to my computer for it to work ...?
You can use this just like any other external drive.
