Print quality is nice but anything in color takes FOREVER!! Sometimes 10-15 minutes!

Cleans very well, quiet, must use the hi-temp wash setting with the heated-dry if you want your dishes to actually come out dry. Door is pretty flimsy but for the price, it matches the rest of our stainless appliances and serves it's purpose. Probably should have spent another $150 for the upgraded version but it wasn't in the budget at the time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Do dishes get completely dry or require extra drying with a hand towel?

If you run Hi-Temp wash with the Heated dry setting, the dishes dry, but the heated dry setting alone will leave the dishes wet. Not the most energy efficient option but it does the trick.
