Ring 2 is what our original Ring doorbell should have been. Almost real-time response to rings or motion and also a replaceable battery. Our original Ring was so slow the UPS guy would be back in his truck before the Ring app went off. And after two years the battery would die in just days. We find battery power allows much greater mounting location flexibility. Also we like the wireless remote Ring chimes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The WeMo device works great for me. It was easy to link into my wifi network, easy to program, and rock solid reliable. I have other wifi linked gadgets that occasionally drop out - but the WeMo has never failed. It just works.

Will I be able to record to my existing home cloud instead of the cloud service provided by manufacturer?

No. They only allow recording to a Ring account.

can you use ant wifi extender with the ring 2 or does it have to be the ring extender

It should work with any WiFi extender, the Chime Extender mainly allows it to be further from your router. The regular Ring Chime lacks the external antennas so range isn’t great.

what different doorbell and the new one doorbell 2 ?? why it cost $50 more ? thinking buy one but want to know , please advise .thanks

The original Ring is now $99 so the price difference is even greater. But the Ring 2 is much faster, better video quality, and has a replaceable battery. Totally worth the price difference. Our original Ring worked so slow that the UPS guy would be back in his truck before my phone app rang. And the built in battery in the original Ring is bad after only 2 years.

Since the Ring 2 will linkup to any standard WiFi router it should work with any WiFi extender. The Chime with Extender increases distance it can be from router mainly due to its external antenna.

Can I fit the ring doorbell 2 to a upvc door

The Ring 2 kit includes various style mounting screws/hardware. It should work if the door trim is solid uPVC which is usual.

Does this work with Nest ?

It does work with Nest, but my Nest thermostat has been finicky already, adding the WeMo seemed to make it more so. I found it easier to just use the WeMo app anyway.

Does this switch require any other hardware to operate? For example, some sort of master hub like other products require?

No hub, each WeMo device connects directly to your WiFi router.
