The 240GB was on sale at Best Buy, so I bought it. Note that it does not come with any screws, or mounting hardware. I need those hardware, so I bought it on Amazon. Basically, I unplugged the SATA cable of the original hard drive, and plug in the new SSD. I re-installed Windows 7 from scratch on the new SSD (I always do that when I change hard drive). Everything works good. I have an older Dell Dimension with SATA 2. Boot up is faster, although I don't have any specific tests to see how much faster.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The laptop arrived in a Geek Squad generic box, packed tightly. My laptop looks brand new, no scratches. It only came with a charger, and that's it, no other accessories, which are cumbersome anyway. Everything runs good out of the box for a month now. The laptop itself is a decent model. At $300, it's a good deal. Don't expect it to be a thousand dollar model, then you'll be golden.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can this drive be installed in a desktop PC?

Definitely. As long as your PC has SATA connection. It is backward compatible, so any SATA will work. I installed mine in an older Dell Dimension desktop. Everything works good. For optimal performance, I recommend install a fresh copy of Windows on the new drive.

No touchscreen. Just wide 17" LCD screen.
