We are extremely rough on our vacuum cleaners and for this one to be so light weight it has held up pretty well. The handle is now broken so I had to duct tape to repair. Overall, its a good product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is this the model that lets you turn off the rotating brush to clean bare floors?

Yes is does but I keep it going to maximize pick up.

How well does it work for shedding dog hair?

My dog is large and constantly sheds, currently I have a rainbow vac, those familiar with this type know that I have to fill it with water (A pain in the butt)
It works great but I would recommend owning to vacuums. One for dog hair and the other for carpets/hardwoods.
