The speakers work pretty well. Loud enough to block out noises in my apartment. You can't use the speakers without the subwoofer so in order to not bother your neighbors you have to find a good medium sound level. Cheap, good volume, good sound quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hook up to TV?
Can I hook them up to my tv with a headphone jack?
Yes but don't expect significantly better sound than the tv speakers. Plug the speakers into the headphone jack in your tv.
