Not sure what took so long for me to purchase my own modem, 10 dollars a month with Comcast otherwise. At first I wanted to go with Motorola Surfboard series but it was only 4x4 channel bonding. With the Zoom, it was not only cheaper, it comes with 8x4 channel bonding, with 8 being download and 4 being up. Works well with Comcast and I achieve a bit above my download speed with the package I have. Yes I would recommend.

What kind of modem do need to buy to replace a Comcast modem.[I want to save the monthly charge}
The Zoom - DOCSIS 3.0 CABLE MODEM is ideal and the cheapest of any that Best Buy offered. It also has 8 channel bonding for downstream and 4 channel bonding for upstream. This is better than the Motorola Surfboard SB**61 model that is more expensive and only has 4 channel bonding for both up and downstream. Very easy to setup with Comcast, just connect the modem with the existing cable from old modem, connect Ethernet to a single computer from modem, do not connect with a router just yet, plug power supply in to modem and let it start configuring and bonding to each channel for at least 20 min, turn on computer that is connected to modem and then call Comcast to let them know you have purchased your own modem, they will connect you to the correct department and have your serial number and mac address of new modem ready to give to them to start the initializing of your new modem.
