I wanted a simple microwave that would heat evenly and be easy to clean, and this one is great on both counts. I particularly like that you can open the door and press the Cancel button, which shuts off the interior light, so you can leave the door open to help get rid of food smells. It is very easy to use in every respect.
In my experience, the one button options, like Frozen Entree, overheat food a bit, so that is why it isn't a 5 star rating. I do use the Beverage button every day (use setting 2 for a mug), which heats water to just the right temperature for coffee and tea (for me anyway). There's nothing magic about it though, it just sets the time for 2:30, and the power to high. Still, it's one less thing to think about in the morning.

When u open door does the light come on?

Yes, the light comes on when you open the door. If you want to leave the door open to air it out, you can push the Cancel button to turn the light off.

does the light stay on while cooking so one can see how the cooking item fares?

its is very important most of the time to see what happens to the cooked item to avoid spills inside for instance or to avoid food being projected all over the oven inside.
