My first ever SSD drive, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Small enough to fit in a pocket and an enormous amount of storage. I write and illustrate for a living, and saving all of those documents and drawings takes a lot of room. I haven't filled it yet, not even close.
A word of caution if you haven't owned an SSD drive before: don't manually defrag it on a regular basis. Defrag creates unnecessary write/rewrite cycles. While spindle technology doesn't care, the solid state storage units have a limit. That doesn't mean you should never defrag an SSD; Windows will do it for you if you have Volume Shadow Copy turned on. But you don't need to defrag with anywhere near the frequency of a spindle drive because there are no "spin / seek" delays in an SSD.
However, fragmentation can be a problem if you NEVER defrag. There is an upper limit to the number of file fragments the device can track, so the occasional defrag is good. A rule of thumb: if you're not doing volume shadow copies, defrag once a quarter on a schedule so you remember to do it but not do it too often. Better: leave Windows to manage the defrag and the drive will be defragged once a month.

Resolves some long-standing questions about Naruto's past and present. Without posting spoilers I think you'll be pleased with how things turn out. The action scenes are very good to great, and not as much "filler" as I expected.

I had a PC with a dead user control file, so the computer would not allow any logons. Fortunately I had my original Windows install disks; unfortunately I did not have another spare drive. The old drive was a 250Mb SATA that was nearly full of documents and pictures. I shopped around and Seagate was one of the top two rated drives, and cheaper than its competitor with the same specs.
The drive was very easy to install, no need to format the drive. All I had to do after the install was re-install Windows (a tedious task) and the machine was once again usable. This device was an excellent value.

Great way to convert internal to external drive

I had a hard drive with a dead sector in the user control file, which meant the PC could not be started. However, I had many documents and pictures and the rest of the drive was probably valid. I thought to convert the internal drive to an external one so I could get at the data as a secondary drive.
The directions are easy to follow and don't require special tools, only a standard Philips' #2 screwdriver to remove the drive from the PC. The kit had its own screwdriver to put the drive into the sleeve. In minutes I had a functioning, 500Mb external disk drive and saved all of my files.
Well worth the money, plus it saved my files.

replace hardrive for HP 2000-2c29WM?

I was wondering if this will be able to replace my old hard drive in my HP2000-2c29WM laptop? I looked and the hard drive that it is using at the moment is ATA with 500 GB and is running on 5400 RM. I am not a tech person so I'm not sure which hard drive fto buy for my Laptop. I want something that have lots of space and is fast. Any suggestion would be fine. Thanks!!
An ATA drive may be replaced with a SATA drive under most conditions. The procedure is simple if you know what you're doing: open the PC, unplug (and mark!) the wires from the old drive, plug them into the new drive, and off you go. The only catch: if you're replacing the C: drive you will have to reinstall your operating system.

Your laptop, an HP2000-2c29WM, is a newer model. It already has a SATA drive; it's not a parallel ATA drive. If you check your specs you'll see the drive is called a "serial ATA" device. That is a SATA drive. The drive you wrote about is the installed drive. Unless you are having problems with it, I suggest you stick with it.

Problems can include either "it doesn't work" or "it's full." I'll tackle the second one first: purchase a second, external drive. A 1Tb external drive is inexpensive and plugs into a USB port. No technical expertise is needed; consider it a giant thumb drive. Move your files there to free up space on your main drive.

If the drive is dead (won't boot, or you can't log in), you must replace it. Below find some suggestions.

To restate, I don't recommend replacing the drive unless you have to.

Your current drive is SATA, 500 Gb, and 5400 RPM. SATA drives run from 5,400 up to 10,000 RPM. A word of caution: the faster the spin rate the hotter it runs and the more electricity it uses, which is not good for the drive or the environment. Stick to 7200 RPM and you'll be fine unless you absolutely require the fastest speeds.

If you are going to replace the drive despite your not needing to, here are my recommendations. I added three "recommended products" for comparison purposes only; I'm not trying to sell anything in particular.

Brand: Western Digital or Seagate
Type: SATA SSD (solid state drive, if you can afford it) or SATA spindle drive at 7,200 RPM.
Capacity: 500Gb or larger, up to 3Tb.
Form factor: laptop drive or external box.
Usage: external should be the choice; if you replace the internal drive you'll have to reinstall Windows, and that will probably involve paying someone to install the drive and install the OS. If you go external just buy the drive; they're plug-and-play.

I can't stress this enough: unless you are having problems with your drive, don't replace it; it's not worth the hassle. I build my own PCs and I wouldn't do it; if you're not technically inclined, the simple solution is the best.
