Only works consistently when the tv is on. New broadcast controls on many channels generate an error that the HDMi output is not supported and to switch to composite. This would mean I have to unplug the TV connection every time I might be using sling box

Will this work from one floor to another? For example Family room to bedroom?

probably not I was trying to use it on the same floor but it had to travel through several walls and the result was not watchable. Its really the sound interference that is most annoying. I could deal with some interference and occasional flipping on the picture but the interference on the sound was really unaceptable
