Verizon Upgrade

I am currently eligible for an upgrade through Verizon,. In the past I have always shopped at the Verizon stores. The price at Verizon is $99 for a new 2 year contract. Only $1 at Best Buy. What's the catch? Any additional fees? Options?
I know with Sprint if you get a discounted phone they try to had a extra $25 to $40 a month to your current for that two years. But they don't tell you that when you get the phone. I called and Sprint took it off my bill because I wasn't properly notified about that before purchasing the phone.
