We got this for my mom for Christmas to replace her year old kindle fire HD (some how they keep breaking on her!! 3 kindles in 3 years!!) Well she loves it. The large screen is perfect for her and since she has an S3 she already (kind of) knows how to use the tablet. We chose this because I have the 8 inch model for myself and I think it's great. The only improvement I would suggest is light sensing brightness auto adjustment.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: small and can clip on anywhere, accurate tracking, replaceable battery
What's not so great: a little hard to understand the interface at first, only connects with a small number of devices
For the price of this little thing (compared to the other options by Fitbit) I would say it's a really great deal.
It doesn't have the stair or sleep tracking ability, but that's not really necessary for me.
The real selling point for this model was the fact that it runs on a watch battery instead of a rechargeable. The other models you have to charge. And for me, the best time to charge something is when I'm sleeping. But if I did that with the Fitbit One or Flex, I would not be able to track my sleep. I wouldn't want to have to pay for something that has features that I can't use due to when I have to charge it. I love that the Zip has a replaceable battery that you only have to worry about changing every few months.

I have the 8 inch version of this tabletand it lasts at least a day, usually several days, without needing a charge.

which tablet is most user friendly to someone who knows very little about tablets ?
I recommend the regular galaxy tab. (This one). The tab s and pro have more options and do more things. They are also more powerful, which is great, but not necessary for a beginner.

Purchase a Google Chromecast ($35.00) and you can display certain apps or even your whole tablet screen on the TV.
