What's great about it: Speed, display, portability, battery life.
What's not so great: Price is on the high end, limited SSD storage.
The ATIV Book 9 Plus ultrabook is great. It boots up within seconds as do launching of programs due in part to the SSD instead of a hard drive (not to lessen the contributions of the 4th generation Intel core i5 processor). I opted for an external hard drive (1TB) to store larger folders of data (i.e. pics, video & music) in order to conserve SSD space. The HD touch-screen display is second to none that I have researched. And it works very well with Windows 8.1 which I recently downloaded. It has a very good battery life which allows me to use it mainly without being connected to the power supply. It does not create an excessive amount of heat either. Samsung also has very cool software allowing you to interface/operate your Galaxy S4 via your laptop! This laptop is extremely thin and light which puts it in the ultrabook class. However, it is well constructed and has a solid feel to it (does not feel cheap, metal shell instead of plastic). One compromise of an ultrabook is the lack of a numeric pad as well as certain key functions being assigned to other keys. The touch pad is also very sensitive (cursor is relocated when typing if you unintentionally touch it). Need to determine if it is possible to disable the touch pad since I predominately use the touch screen. Listen, if you're in search of a high-end ultrabook for work or pleasure then look no further. This puppy delivers the goods and is certain to please.

Purchased laptop used, HD crashed. Want to replace.

The computer is totally legal, all stickers are on product. Was originally purchased at BB. I have most documentation re: sale,
I like the laptop, want to replace HD. How do I replace O/S? Can I get original or copies of disc from BB? I thought I could bring system back but totally screwed it up

Most laptops have a recovery partition. The manufacturer/OS will allow you to create a backup copy in case of a hard drive failure. If this was not done and you did not purchase the BB protection plan, your options are to contact the laptop manufacture or Microsoft.

Preinstalled software

Is there any preinstalled hardware that comes with this computer?
Please specify hardware. Installed is 4GB internal memory and 128 GB SSD (approximately half of which is usable due to the recovery partition). Great ultrabook. See my review.
