Great sound and super light weight. Used it for gym on my iPhone 6plus without worrying about cords tangle up on my work outs. Only thing that I would suggest to users is get the Comply T500 and you get a snug fit without worrying it coming off and better noise isolation and sound coming out of it.

Bought this to get XBMC without jailbreaking ATV3 which doesn't exist and old ATV2 jail broken cost twice the price. This FireTV runs as fast as the new ATV3 and a remote that doesn't need to be pointed directly at it and you can sidelioad any apps you want. Bought 2 of this to replace the Roku box and laptop as media box that connects to our HDTV for a great media box.

can fire tv record shows and be taken to where there is no internet connection to watch?

No. There's no DVR function and cannot operate without internet connection.

Amazon Fire TV vs Roku 3 (box)

Which one is better? Why/why not?

Amazon Fire TV is hands down better. I have Roku 1-2-3 to compare to, all cannot be side loaded or extremely difficult if you want to have an app outside its ecosystem. Fire tv you can put whatever app you want.

I'm new to this. What is the monthly service fee for all those TV Channels

I would like to know the amount of the monthly service charge for the TV Channels I only know how Netflix works. Can I use this to eliminate Comcast Cable. I realize I still need an Internet provider

This cannot replace cable subscription per say. This is only a device to stream content from subscription based services like Netflix,HBO go, Prime etc. which you have to pay separately. Live TV broadcast can be side loaded into this device via an app called XBMC now called Kodi or other app for android, but that's something that you'll have to read on the internet on how to.

If there is a Direct TV app for android devices, then this can also stream their programs. It's limitation is only what DTV ALLOWS the app to do.
Check with DTV and see what you can do with the DTV app.

Are the developer options enabled so Kodi can be installed?

Developer mode is not enabled by default you must enable them and also enable third party app to be installed in securities setting to be able to side-load Kodi.
