What's great about it: Does what it's supposed to do.
What's not so great: Nothing...all is well.
The device is plug in and use. I use Windows 7 Backup & Restore as my backup software, so I can't comment, at least yet, on the backup software that comes on the drive and can be installed on one's computer.
This product has... Reliable, Attractive design/portable, Quiet, Large capacity/good size
About me... Need a simple backup solution
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can I use this as a working external hardrive?

I am a CPA and have multiple companies QuickBooks Enterprise files saved in a Dropbox Folder which I work off of. I want to transfer my "working" copies of QuickBooks Enterprise to WD Passport and back up to DropBox but don't know if the WD works as an extended hard drive that I can work off of and it is saved in real time rather than having to start a back up process after I am finished with each company file. Please let me know.
One can save and open files on the WD Passport, so it can be used both as a backup, and an external, drive.
