What's great about it: Open and closes shutter promptly
It takes the picture with no problems of camera shake. Shutter opens and closes fine when remote is pressed.

What's great about it: Does well for 8hrs
What's not so great: For a photographer, longer battery life would be wonderful.
Great battery life for day to day snapshots, but for photographers a longer battery life would be great.

What's great about it: I've used it for close up shots too, not just long exposure shots
At 55mm at the lowest aperture f4.5, I was able to get nice close up shots with a bokeh background effect. At 300mm long exposure distance, I was able to get clear crisp pictures. I love this lens!

Is this suitable for coin photography?

I need a good lens for taking images of coins. I need good detail, can this lens accomplish that?
Yes it is. I would manually focus my lens to get a sharp image and blurred background at a low aperture.
