What's great about it: Fairly easy to use after the first few stumbles
What's not so great: No trip planning, though when I bought it they said it had it
Disappointing when compared to the Navigon that finally bit the dust. With the Navigon, I could enter several locations within a trip and it would take me from place to place. Though I was told this one had it, I cannot get that feature to work so I conclude that it doesn't. It was my favorite aspect of the Navigon - I could plan my errands and it would, in effect, remind me where to go next. Bummer about the Garmin. Also, the power cord attaches to the back perpendicular so that it will not lie flat. It is also - it would seem - so accurate that when you have arrived at your destination, it doesn't think you are there yet because you are in the parking lot.

when car charging, must the GPS be in the holder?

I prefer not to be distracted by the map on the screen. Can the charger be plugged into the GPS and then the GPS turned upside-down? Or does the charger plug into the holder....and the GPS then plugged into the holder?
charger plugs into the gps and gps can be then placed wherever you like - though it won't lie flat because the plug is in the back.
