I have the previous charge 2, in my opinion this is a great improvement ,the audio is good, can be used at the beach and the pool with no problems at all, the volume is way louder than the charge 2. Also you can connect easy several speakers to cover a big area , i did it and works perfect , if you are thinking of getting one i will say go for it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: nice sound good bass
What's not so great: not to many features
i got this player for my backyard and it is a bit expensive the sound is good ,but not high volume ,the bass is nice and the xtra bass option is really good when activated ,what I don't like is that it does not have bluethooth if you put battery it goes to battery automatically even if connected to house power that is really a bad design ,my carrying strap lock broke the first two days don't know why if you put a usb with folders of mp3 music it will not identify the folder and play the 300 or 400 song as a one playlist that is really bad when you one to listen one of the last one ,to finish I will say if you don't ask too much from your sound equipment this is a good option.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does it have to be plugged into a wall?

Does it take batteries so it doesn't have to be plugged into a wall? if it can take batteries, what kind do they take?
it can be plugged into the wall with the cable that come with it ,also it can take battery it uses size "D" battery and uses 10 cells (units). Note that if you put the battery even if you are connected to the wall it will still running on battery power so if you are planning on save your battery just take them out when you are plug in.

Does this take the iPhone 5 via lightening connector?

the iphone adapter that it came with is for the old big connector ( iphone 4 and before) for iphone 5 can not be put it directly to the connector in the player

Does it come with an a/c adapter?

I was wondering if this boombox came with an a/c adapter, if not which one/size should I buy?
it come with the a/c adapter to plug in at houses outlets but don't come with the adapter to use it with the car cigarette outlet I was trying to find this one and can not find it.
