Download speed coming in is 105, why is wireless download speed only 30?
Internet is Comcast Extreme 105. Ethernet connection to router produces download speeds around 88Mbps. However wireless download speeds range from 10.5 Mbps to 38 Mbps. How can I increase the wireless download speed? Will this router be sufficient or should I look for a different one?
This router has a very small wifi chip in it. The modem itself is capable of higher download and upload rates. But that is dependant of the service being brought to your box from the service provider. It has a very under powered wifi signal. I was only able to get 60 Mbps standing next to it and it quickly drops as soon as you leave the room. Also the device your trying to acess the wifi to test with depending on what band, frequency, and how old the device is will affect your test rates. I used a brand new MacBook air and was sitting next to the router when I received 60 Mbps when test the wifi.
I suggest buying a router and hooking it up to this modem and disabling the old wifi on the modem itself
