What's great about it: Ease of use, Best Buy and Bose support, sound quality.
What's not so great: Heavy use takes it's toll. Be sure to work with Best Buy and Bose to ensure the longevity of the item.
I have several Bose products, in addition to gifting Bose to friends and family. Once you've experienced the exceptional sound quality, anything else just doesn't cut it. While the Bose names does carry a significant price tag, you will be much happier than "wishing you would've!"
This product has... Perfect fit, exceptional sound range including deep bass, unprecedented sound clarity
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can I plug/play an iPod from an audio jack?
I would like to use this as a computer speaker system, but I was wondering if the system could plug into an iPod audio jack to play straight from the device?
Yes. There are two 3.5mm ports on the control module/volume control for the Companion 5. The left input is for headphones, and the right input is for a device that will be utilizing the Companion 5 sound. All that is needed is a 3.5mm cable.

I have the Bose companion sound system and Sounddock and lost audio cable
I lost the cable that I use to plug into my iPod. I've tried to use other audio cables but they don't work. I have to use a cable to play my iPod on the soundlink because the dock connector on the system is lose and doesn't work most of the time. Which cable do I need to buy and from who Apple? from Best Buy? didn't see cables for sale on Bose website?
Best Buy should have either of the 2 cables that you need. If you need the cable that plugs into the bottom of your Apple device for the docking station, those should all be in-store. In addition, if you are in need of the 3.5mm audio cable that plugs into the headphone jack, Best Buy will have those, too. If you only need playback, and not simultaneous charging, you can plug the auxiliary line cable into the right "line-in" port on the Companion 5 control module/volume.

Can you finagle a way to make a Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System a surround sound system?
I have my computer hooked up to my television and the sound goes through my computer so I ended up buying a Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System today and I'm wondering if there's a way to make it from a 2 speaker and subwoofer system to around a 4 or 5 speaker and subwoofer system
While the Companion 5 is designed to create a Full 5.1 effect from two speakers and a sub, and does so remarkably when you are close to the system... I have found that there is no feasible way to "bridge" additional components with it. I have sought the answer to this very question myself, and after extensive research have found... The computer makes the Companion 5 the "Primary/Default" sound, and therefore overrides anything further. Adding auxiliary speakers from any device via 3.5mm jack has not worked either. I hope that this helps.

Companion 5 and samsung smart TV7100
I just bought samsung smart tv 7100 and I want t to connect my companion 5 to TV , what port whould i use should I use from tv to my companion 5? do i need to buy extra cord to connect it ?

Have you tried using the 3.5mm cable port? This would plug into the "line-in" port on the right side of the Companion 5 control pod/volume from the 3.5mm jack on the tv. That would only take a cable long enough to go between the devices. This is also the same cable that you would use to play Apple devices, etc. in addition, you should be able to set the volume level on the Companion 5, and still be able to utilize the volume on the device. Always remember that the light on the Control Pod is: Red: Off, Amber: Muted, tap to change to green, and Green: Go. I include that due to my own frustration at the time of purchase, and realizing that it was a good thing to check... I hope that this information is helpful!
