This is a great product for anyone. I am a professional installer for much higher end remote controls. This is a great universal remote for the money, the next step up from this would run around 1,000.00+, plus a professional installer. The two main issues I have had with this product in the past #1 sometimes after an software update the product struggles to work correctly and #2 the IR blasters use 2.5mm and not the standard 3.5mm, so if needed you can purchase the 2.5mm IR blasters online or buy an adapter. Still quite annoying
I would recommend this to a friend!

All components will be behind closed doors, will I be able to turn TV on/off,do likewise for a DVD behind closed doors will this remote work?

Yes. The main unit acts as a IR blaster, then it has a ir blaster extension that comes with it to put out where your tv is

Harmony Smart Control RF question

Can it communicate RF to the hub then IR to the devices? How does the IR blaster connect to the hub? Can you get IR emitters to attach to the front of each device you want to control so you can keep everything centralized in a rack? If so how do they connect to the hub and where do you buy them? Can I see a drawing of the connections points?
Yes, RF to the hub (the hub acts as one big IR blaster ) this makes it sometimes easy and sometimes really hard, it can cause IR interference also if you have more than one product with the same brand in the same rack then it is hard to make it only see the one you are trying to control. You can use IR emitters but there are only two ports on the back of the Logitech and both are 2.5mm so you can order the emitters from Logitech or get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. The other way that I have done several times is by using the supplied IR blaster and cutting the cord then splicing into it. I have added 3-4 IR emitters in the same splice and it works great.
