It does what it says it will do. APC will generally give you 3 years of life on one of these. Bit pricey, but it is what it is. Don;t run three heavy printers on it though... It will squeal like a pig with warning beeps. If you goign to put any real load on it go with the $200+ model

Does it have a power outage alarm/beep?

My present battery back-up system has a piercing beep that sounds every minute or two while the power is out. Very disturbing, especially middle of night. Does the APC-Back-UPS 700VA Battery Back -Up System have an alarm system of any sort, and if so, what?

Is this compatible with Mac OS 10.2.8 and higher?

Power is power. It will do the job for it, as far as software monitoring compatibility.. No idea. However the software is limited to say the least anyhow.

back up battery for tv

i have a new 55" smart tv - & directv box - looking to protect

Go for it.. Will do the job, just don't expect any real life span with no power. Much better than a surge protector IMO

Will this act as a line filter

I have occasional power outages and use a Generac GP7500 generator for back up at home. Will the BN700MC act as a line filter between outlet and computer?

It will remove Brown outs produced by the generators fluctuation in voltage. It will also act as a bridge to hold constant power when the generator kicks on. However, as with all of these you have to consider your load. You can use it to keep your computer up and running and to make sure voltage is where it needs to be at. You can NOT use it to keep the fridge running for even a minute. :)
