I didn't have the sense to look if this had phone jacks. I get my phone service through the cable company as well as my TV and internet, so without phone jacks, this modem did me no good. I returned it. It may be the best cable modem of all time, I have no idea, but if you have cable phone service, you want a modem with phone jacks, not this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What kind of modem do need to buy to replace a Comcast modem.[I want to save the monthly charge}
If you have phone service through Comcast, this is NOT the modem you need as it doesn't have a phone jack. If you simply have internet service through Comcast, this modem, I am told by others who own it, is excellent.
