What's great about it: screen size, go anyplace, good battery life
What's not so great: windows 8 and 8.1, sreen will auto rotate when you move it, heavy
The ROVE is very nice. Good battery life, wifi range, big screen. Only issue would be weight (heavy). You wouldn't want kids walking all around the house with it. It doesn't weigh a ton, but no good way to grab it, no handle anyplace. You have to squeeze it around the edge.
I still don't like windows 8 or the auto update to 8.1. The first auto update locked up the NEW Rove (update fail screen). I thought windows bricked my new rove. Google the issue with a old 7 computer, and thats NORMAL (that say a lot about windows 8.1). It did update. All is good now
If you do update 8, google some info first. Have another computer on hand to search what to do if you get a fail screen. You shouldn't have to do any of that if windows was any good. Windows should PAY us to keep testing 8.1 (it's bata testing), it still not ready to be sold. Rove will auto rotate screen if you squeeze it to move, no way to turn off auto rotate (more windows issue)

Why no HDMI port?

I see it has WIDI capability but that requires buying another piece of equipment to connect to an HD TV with HDMI to obtain actual HD.

For example if I a download an HD movie or have other HD video (regardless of source) seems to make sense to simply add a full or micro-HDMI port.
If you downloading a true HD movie, it's 25GB + PER movie, thats unlikely. It's more like 720 stream (called HD) over a 480. Rove won't degrade any video you downloaded if it streams out. You can wifi Bluetooth, widi..
