Don't waste your money on cheap charging cords, they might work for a week & then Apple's chip will not allow it to charge your devise.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: The manual locking devise.
What's not so great: A discount offered when purchased with the lifeproof case.
I have not used or would recommend a "clip" design in the past because of either they would get caught on the seatbelt while getting out of my car or sitting in a theater seat & my phone falling to the floor or driveway. This lifeproof clip has a manual locking devise right on top for quick access.
Perfect!
This product has... Attractive design, A no slip grip, Tough/durable, A nice compact size, good fit

Will the phone fit in the clip if it has an Otter Box Defender case on it?

I don't believe so. I have both the Lifeproof case & belt clip for my 5s. The security clip that locks the phone in opens just enough to clip over the lifeproof case. I know the otter box is thicker so it would not secure the phone.

is this for use with a current lifeproof case as an add on or is it for use with a 'naked' iphone 5. pretty much im asking if i need to first purchase a lifeproof case to use this device?
Yes, this case can only be utilized with a lifeproof case installed on their iphone 5s & 5c. The clip is "molded" or "form fitted" just for the lifeproof case. So- a "naked" or an iphone with any other case installed on their iphone- will not fit in this clip. This is what you want to protect your iphone from any damage from using a "universal" clip.

my question said it was answered but i can't find a response so im asking again,

im curious to know if the belt clip is only for someone who already has a lifeproof case on their phone. or what is it like
This case will work with current owners or anybody looking to purchase a lifeproof case. The clip does swivel to allow the user to wear their phone in either the vertical or horizontal position.
