This enables room filling sound from any flat screen with smaller speakers. Great for older folks

What's great about it: Doesn't mess up your hair
What's not so great: Price steep
Really like the small size and big sound. Perfect for plane trips and bus rides with noisy environments. Packs up quite small so put in pocket or purse. Great sound quality.

Does an optical cable eliminate buzzing?

I just bought this product. It came with 2 cables - RCA and Headphone. I cannot get any sound from the RCA and the headphone emits a steady buzz, in the background.

I have a 2 year old 50" Phillips HDTV.

Any suggestions
Optical will eliminate ground loops that are the source of buzz. Have you tried flipping the A&C plug ?

Can these be worn with motorcycle helmet?

I was wondering/hoping that these can be worn while wearing a motorcycle helmet. I have varying degrees of "success" wearing in-the-ear style headphones (earphones?), including the non-noise-cancelling version of Bose earbud headphones. I like the idea of noise cancelling feature as that may help with reducing overall noise while riding motorcycle. Thanks.
Yes these will work very well. The way they fit won't interfere with helmet use at all. Will cancel lots of noise but not all unless music played. With no music on you can still carry on conversation/ hear sirens etc.

RE: noise cancellation quality when not listening to music

My main purpose for buying noise canceling headphones is not to listen to music without distractions, but to have peace and quiet while not listening to music. Peace. Quiet. No music, either. So, how well does the noise cancellation perform when not listening to any music? When not listening to music, will conversations be blocked out? Or, do they perform better with reducing noises like air conditioner units, subway sounds, but do not do well with blocking out human speech?
With no music you can carry on normal conversation. You will speak quieter than normal because you hear less noise.

Can I recharge the battery from a wall plug with the Kindle usb-wall plug?

I have a wall plug-usb adapter I use to charge my kindle. I can use it in the US or abroad (220v) It has an output of 5.0 v, .85 amps.

Can I use this plug to connect the usb cable and recharge the Bose QC20 noise cancelling earbuds?
Yes, the U in USB is for universal. As long as plug same size into Bose end you are good to go.

Plugging jack into devices -- or not -- for just using noise cancellation

If I just want to tune out my obnoxious upstairs neighbors and not listen to any music, can I simply turn on the noise canceling earbuds without plugging them into my iPhone (or any other device)? Will the active noise cancellation still work if not plugged into a music player or other device? My primary purpose will be noise cancellation (not music listening) and I want something I can comfortably wear around the house -- without always needing to be tethered to my iPhone -- while I count the months until my lease expires. Thanks. ... and never rent a downstairs apartment.
Yes and they are light enough not to fall out of ears.

Would it do any harm to the battery or electronics to use them while charging?
