This Sony Blu-Ray Player is the perfect Up-Grade for my Home Entertainment System! I did have issues with my Yamaha Audio Amplifier that would not read audio from the HDMI so I had to buy an extractor that split the audio between HDMI and RCA connectors R&L. All is well and am able to enjoy Blue-Ray and Regular DVD movies that are extremely crisp and clear. Now all that remains, is to see how reliable the unit is?
I would recommend this to a friend!

Should I buy the Bose 301 system or start over

I have a Sony surround sound system that came in a box, some middle ear deafness as a result of a hand grenade going off near me....I have had a really nice yamaha amp, and simple but good speakers in the past, will the 301 system improve what I have, or should I start over with components, and add speakers that fit those components? Seems like the surround systems are just trying to do too much at one time.
I am using a YAMAHA, HTR-6230 amplifier with a CD player, a Blue Ray/DVD player and like you I was using some very old but good quality JBL speakers. I plugged in Four 301's and the sound quality improved, dramatically!

Do I need to buy a sub woofer or a centerspeaker with the 301V ?

You will be able to draw enough base from the receiver adjustment. A sub woofer would unnecessarily distort the reflective acoustic properties of the speakers. But if you absolutely must? Any hi-quality powered sub will do.

I have 301 bose speakers with 161 bose speakers in rear, what would be a good center speaker?
