Do I purchase a HDMI cable to connect an older TV to Roku 1?

The back of the TV has red, yellow, white connections.
my tv is older, but had the red, yellow and white connector jacks. The Roku came with the connector. I purchased a splitter and had other cables so I could split the signal going into the tv between the Roku and an older DVD player. Works great!

Can I use it to get Netflix?

if you have a netflix account, or sign up for one, yes. That was why we purchased this. It was much cheaper than buying a smart tv.
