Tivo, as usual, has easy, intuitive menus. Easy to install, easy to use. What I DONT like about Tivo is there is no wifi option for the mini's AND $15 a month for local channels is a bit steep for "free" tv just to be able to look at menus. You're already paying for the equipment. $3.99 seems a more reasonable "fee" just to see menus.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Priced right, easy set up, SUPER EASY.
What's not so great: Form factor - not rack mountable. NO analog audio out!
We've installed dozens of these. They work, rarely an issue. Why do manufacturers keep making their form factor (size) narrower? Hard to find units that fit nicely in a rack. This model is a little wider than some of the other ones so it makes for a better fit in a rack on a 1U shelf. Remote codes are readily available so integration into a system is seamless.
Menus are fairly easy to navigate. Would like to see same model with no wifi for a few dollars less. For distributed audio, this unit has ZERO analog outputs, only digital. That can wreak havoc on some installs as additional equipment can be required for streaming the audio out for whole house distribution.

I have an LG 42LA6408 Smart TV. Would Google TV device give me any advantage?
Whenever I want to watch something from Internet it takes ages to load it up. My internet speed is good 16Mb and I bought this TV 2 weeks ago. I even plugged the LAN cable into the TV in order to make it faster. If I buy Google TV would I have advantages and potentially faster speed?

Built in apps on TV's (smart TV's) are clunky, slow and cumbersome. Smart TV's are really not all they are cracked up to be. You would be better off adding an Apple TV or Roku to get even more "smart' capabilities than what the TV offers. In addition, you will be able to more easily get that sound through and amplifier or surround sound system.
The first thing we do on installs is turn off EVERY smart capability a TV has as they are all pretty worthless. More marketing hoopla than actual usefulness.

No, this is not possible with just the TV and player. The purpose of the wifi capabilities is have access to your network through the device (your TV or bluray player), meaning the apps on the devices can access your network, or internet without and Ethernet cable. It cannot stream the picture from the player to the TV.
Now, there are wireless streaming devices that can take your HDMI out of the bluray and connect it wirelessly to your TV but this is not actually over your "wifi" network. Those units can be quite costly, don't work reliably, involve compression (picture quality degradation) and are not typically recommended.

How do you connect this player to a DirecTv cable box?
There is no reason to connect it to a cable box. Not sure what you trying to accomplish. Bluray players and Cable boxes are both INPUT devices. You put them to a TV or amplifier system.

Can this device be hooked up to a 720p HD TV
I have an insignia 37" HDTV but 720p. Will this device work with that and just upgrade picture thru device to 1080p quality?
You TV is only capable of 720, so no, no device attached to it will ever be 1080. But, yes, you can hook it up it will work. On 37" you could never tell the quality difference between 720 and 1080 anyways, so you are good to go.
