No problems with Western Digital drives. This one is small, holds a lot of data, and feels well-built. The prices keep coming down for larger and larger storage units. Yay!

I've had very good luck with Western Digital drives - more so than with LaCie or other brands. They get cheaper every year, and have larger storage capacities. With USB 3.0, they're as fast as I need them to be. What's not to like?

Can I upload mp3's and pictures from a Windows computer and then plug it into a Mac and transfer the files to a Mac computer?

Yes. The drive is formatted in EXFAT, so it will work on both a Mac or a Windows machine.

is the included usb cable 3.0 or 2.0?

It comes with a USB 3.0 cable.

Can this be taken back and forth between PC and Mac interfaces or is it strictly Mac compatible once it is formatted that way?

If you format it in the "EXFAT" format (on a Mac), it can go back and forth between a PC and a Mac. It will also work with both if formatted as an "MS-DOS(FAT), but it would have a 2GB limit on file size.

is this compatable with a compac model CQ510Ff

I didn't know that Compaq still existed as a brand. HP bought them years ago, and I believe the last Compaq computer was built in 2010. If the machine has a USB port (which is safe to assume), then, yes, you could use this drive, though it wouldn't be as fast as if used with a computer that supports USB 3.0. Really, it's time for you to buy a new computer.
