After plugging this in and setting it up (which was a nightmare on mac, had to switch to windows laptop) it actually cut my network speeds in HALF. Returning this as fast as I can and will NOT be getting a new Netgear Extender. What a piece..
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Will this work with AT&T U-verse?

I would say technically, yes. But I would not advise going with this extender.

do you need a cd with this router

No, you do not need a disc to install this.
