The ability to watch your own personal cable box anywhere in the world is fantastically luxurious. Reminder: you must be a cable TV subscriber, you must use a device that has Internet access (Wi-Fi , Ethernet, or 4G), and you must realize that if anyone else is on your house, those people could change your channel. After purchasing the hardware, there are no monthly fees. For most people, their cable TV set top box and Cablemodem gateway are in the same location. If yours isn't, you'll have to run a long Cat 5 Ethernet cable with an RJ45 jack on each end from your gateway to the set top box or DVR that is connected to this Sling Box. (There is another model that works wirelessly) Once you begin using this, you'll wonder how you ever watched TV or your DVR sitting in one room at one TV.

Same standard 15.6" screen, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive with DVD-RW, Webcam, USB, and HDMI that everybody else has, but with a higher quality microprocessor. Number keypad, SD card reader, and ASUS name make this a wise purchase, but at this price, you will not get BlueTooth or touchscreen.

What's great about it: Works with iPad Air
What's not so great: Unnecessarily high price
iPhone 4 and 4S, iPod, and original iPad AC adapters do NOT charge the iPad Air, so if you need one for home and one for work or travel, you must buy this. Others available in stores and on the web will fail. Its plug folds away for more compact storage, and it turns off when charging is complete. It draws no current when nothing is connected to it so you can leave it plugged in all the time without fear of overheating, and you can leave your iPad Air plugged in all the time without fear of overcharging. It's probably made of about seven and a half cents worth of materials and a fair price for it would be between five and eight dollars, but they charge you twenty dollars plus tax, or around two and a half times its actual value.

What's not so great: No email address, you must be on network to use it
Incredibly fast, a teacher can print a high quality class set of worksheets in one minute, or two sided automatically within 3 minutes. Pages emerge face down in their original order. Wireless, can be anywhere in the house and moved at any time. Two sided automatically instantly, no drying time wasted like ink jet. Load half a ream at a time, or a single sheet of specialty paper. Make perfect copies without a computer in seconds. Scan to computer or PDF. Sorry, no FAX, no document feeder, scans and copies one side at a time, no email address, you must be on the network, really long, long installation process requiring a reboot like last century, but low price makes up for these.

What's great about it: Remarkably long range
What's not so great: Not interchangeable with other same brand models
Loud and clear, receives all the way to the third floor outside, shows numbers for Caller ID, redial, and address book, loud clear speakerphone, finder, small and lightweight, goes for days without recharging, but must be hung up and recharged in its own cradle. Not compatible with the other vTech Dect 6.0 in the house. Easy on the table, but not so easy to mount on the wall. Run and buy one while the price is still so tiny.

What's great about it: Does everything for you, you need no other device
What's not so great: Battery runs down quickly, Wi-Fi is not everywhere
This extension of my body goes everywhere with me and does everything for me, starting with the most versatile alarm clock you could ask for, reading the newspaper, checking on banking, listening to music, viewing and sending pictures, checking Facebook, Googling things, checking the weather, getting driving directions, sending and receiving FREE iMessages, scanning UPC bar codes and QR codes even while you're shopping, and downloading free apps for every store, bank, and company you deal with. The camera is higher quality than the ones that only take pictures, and there are dozens of settings you can change whenever you want. I have a different picture and a different ring tone for each contact. It's not heavy, not expensive, and not hard to use. It's almost ideal.

Can I turn my tv into a display for my pc?
I would like to use my PC as it was intended, the master race of gaming. My TV is much larger than my PC display, but is mounted on an opposing wall. Would I be able to stream my video games through the sling-box to my TV for a better gaming experience?
Sling Box is the OPPOSITE of what you want. It takes the picture from the TV and shows it on your computer. You need Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, or any other new product to move the picture from your computer to your TV.

do you need cable service or just internet.
You need Cable Service at HOME to get a TV channel, Internet service at HOME to send the signal out to the web, and Internet service (Wi-Fi, Ethernet RJ45 Jack, or 4G/LTE wherever you are remotely watching on your smart phone, tablet, or laptop to see the TV signal.

Can I use the Slinbox 350 to connect via internet to my Direct TV subscription via internet if I don't have the DirectTV equipment on the house?
Can I use the Slingbox 350 at my house with internet and no tv service to connect to my direct tv subscription at my vacation cabin with Direct TV service and equipment? The vacation cabin does not have internet. It is 150 miles away.
This Sling Box allows you to peek at whatever is on your TV at home. It turns on your home Cable Box (or satellite dish box or DVR) and shows it on your phone, tablet, or laptop. It doesn't turn on your home TV, only your box. While you are away, your phone, tablet, or laptop becomes your temporary TV in your vacation cabin. Note that if there is no Wi-Fi in the woods and no Ethernet LAN jack in the cabin, then your smart phone will have to use its 4G or LTE connection which will burn through your gigabytes pretty quickly. It might be more economical to watch the birds and waterfalls in the remote woods and watch TV with your remote at home.

We don't have cable or satellite...can we use this to get ESPN without a subscription???
No. The Sling Box is NOT a receiver. It is a transmitter. It only shows what is ALREADY on your TV. Without Cable or Satellite, you see nothing.

Is there a telephone/answer machine that will record the conversation between the person calling & the person receiving the call?
No, most telephone answering machines only record the incoming voice. You can pay extra for a model that has a button that you can press during a conversation to record both sides, but obviously, that won't work when you're not home to press the button.

If i buy unactivated device with full price, will it work with other carrier?
No, all cell phones and data-enabled tablets can be used only with the carrier that you pay monthly for your data plan.

Panasonic Dect 6.0 -Why is this phone being advertised for $34.99 but comes up $59.99 in my cart?
Sale prices usually automatically expire weekly, some sites are not automatically updated. Higher price is true price. Wait until advertised price returns a few weeks from now. (Same happens in store, sale price expires but shelf tag is not immediately removed.)
