My first battery backup, bought it for home office to make sure I can still work and answer calls on VOIP. Works great, does what it's supposed to do, haven't had any issues with it yet, however it does beep rather loudly when I print and the printer isn't even plugged in to the unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Protecting a Desktop PC

I am confused by the answer to a prior question which I copied below. I need to surge protect a desktop PC plus external drives, router etc., but also if there is a power outage I need enough battery backup to allow me to save files on my desktop PC and/or external drive and then close everything down. Will it do that ok? Isn't that what its for?

"For your reference, the BN4001 is positioned as a UPS to protect networking equipment, not to be network manageable.

Because it is intended to protect networking equipment (ie modem, router, etc. vs a PC), we do not include a cable to connect to a PC or the software to monitor from a PC"
Yes, it will do that ok and you are correct...that's exactly what it's for. I think what they meant is that the unit isn't something that will show as a device on your network and as such, is not connectable other than by plugging in a power cord.
