Easy setup. adaptable to to various types of windows and openings.
Use less energy than unit it replaces. Gives even cooling throughout room
Filter is in front of unit and easy to take out to clean. Get personnel to plug it in for you so you don't lug home and then return it because it doesn't work.
I would recommend this to a friend!

do these have a volume control?

the least expensive pair do not. The slightly higher priced model does have a multi-function switch.

can the unit be set for just the room air and not any outside air, pollen is a problem in my area?

Yes it can be set for inside air only. Most units regardless of manufacture
are not completely sealable from outside air.

will a regular electricial socket work

A regular 15 amp receptacle will work as long as it will hold electrical plug
tightly.
