This replaced my 11 year old 42" plasma (dell). I thought the dell had a better quality picture, but it may have been slightly deceitfull because of the smaller screen size. In my opinion my 61" Samsung DLP still produces a better picture than the newly purchased one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

will the tv stand swivel

It will, but it's a very floppy stand. You would be better off getting a wall mount.
