This is a good little blu Ray player. I can pull files from my PC while networked to play onto my tv with it. It does a great job playing playing movies through disc as well as streaming. It's missing some small features like web browser and a larger app library, does not have yahoo for instance. That being said it does a good job playing movies which is ultimately what it's built for.
I would recommend this to a friend!

By connecting this Blu Ray Player to my Samsung SMART TV, can I eliminate having to hard wire the player for internet access?

I am asking this question because my TV is wireless and is part of my home network already but this player is not wireless and would normally need to be hard wired (ethernet cable) to get internet access. Problem is I do not have hard wire access in that room - so again I am wondering if being hooked up to the TV it will have internet access via the TV? I understand if the Blu Ray player needs to update it's firmware it needs internet access and that's why this is important to me.
No. This will not piggy back off the tv connection. If you need the access you will need an access point in that room which they do make. Otherwise for updates all you need is to download the update to a sub drive through the PC and the install directly into the player, main reason for the usb port on the front of the player.

Will the coaxial output jack on the Samsung BD-H5100/ZA send video as well as audio signal to an older TV?

Will the coaxial output jack on the Samsung BD-H5100/ZA send video as well as audio signal to an older TV that predates HDMI? I am attempting to replace an early vintage Blue-ray player that has multiple options for video and audio connection (HDMI, coaxial, RCA style video and audio component jacks, s-video, etc.) but I'm finding it difficult to source a new player with that level of connetion diversity.
No, sadly the coaxial is for audio only. Currently you are going to have a difficult time finding a standard blu-Ray player with anything more than HDMI for video. I would recommend trying to source an older playstation 3 that has component outputs if your TV has that input method, red/green/blue, with red/white audio. Happy hunting. And I am in no way saying you won't find a blu Ray player with those, it's just going to be a tough search.
