Is this cartridge the same as HP number 56 but larger ink capacity held or is this totally different then my HP number 56 black ink?

how do I tell which color needs replaced
Most printers with a screen display will indicate ink levels, display will need to be accessed from the menu screen.

I have an HP C309a printer.
Do all 564 cartridges fit my printer? What if C309a isn't listed on the ink box?
