The Galaxy Tab 4 is more of a budget friendly tablet. Its not a tablet that will blow you away with its specs, but for the price of $150.00 its a good buy. Above that price I would consider another tablet with better performance if I have to pay over $150.00. Samsung's interface can be a bit lagging at times and the options or features are not as much compared to the next samsung tablet model. This tablet has a more that decent screen resolution. I would say this is a tablet aimed for kids. More sutiable for a person looking for a tablet for kids rather than buying a tablet designed primarily for children e.g nabi, leapfrog.
I would recommend this to a friend!

can you hook this model up with Verizon?

I need a new tablet to connect on my tablet line with Verizon - I don' t know how to tell which tablets can be used this way...
No. This is only a WiFi enabled device. You need to search for devices that offer a compatible data plan with your cellular carrier.

Is the samsung galaxy tab 3 or 4 have sim card??

This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and it is not equipped with a sim card. I am assuming you meant a micro sd card slot. If so, then yes this device has a slot for a micro sd card.

Can the OS be updated in the future?

When new versions of the OS come out can this tablet update its OS and stay current?
That is dependent on the manufacturer, Samsung. If they decide that this tablet should receive an operating system update then they will push it out to this version. Unfortunately, I believe that decision is driven more on the economical standpoint. Is it worth spending the money to test and approve an update for this model?. I would say if this tablet were 2 or 3 models old, than I would think Samsung wouldn't bother updating this device. But this tablet is a recent model so the next update of Google's "Lollipop" should be pushed down to this device.

do you have to use wifi can you just 4g

This is a WiFi only tablet.
