What a difference these bad boys made!
I went from some sony studio headsets to these.
You must have the little dongle plugged in to get the pseudo 7.1. It does a good job at simulating the surround sound. Games like FPS Counter strike go are now more fun to play! I can tell where the steps come from....

Overall, this is a GEM for $40. Keep an ear to the cyber ground and pick these bad boys when they go on sale, won't regreat it.

What's great about it: Combo modem + ok Router
What's not so great: Router signal not so powerful
My parents still believe in DSL, their "Provided" modem kept dying. A replacement by their "Provider" was $75-150+. I couldn't believe it when the guy from tech support was eagerly selling me this....it turns out that the dead modem was like #3 that my parents had bought in this fashion. You see, they are ADDICTED to the internet, so when it goes down because of a modem, the world is ending. Thank god for BB keeping some stores around, all I had to do is drive down to my local BB, pick this puppy up, and we were rocking in less than an hour.
BIG bonuses with this device:
- Includes a router, so you can def get most of the basic routing needs taken care by this gem.
- If you already own a router, and rather use it as a modem, no problemo. A simple click of a setting and this thing only acts as a modem. to which I say: SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
- The blinking lights would not be seen from orbit. They're just right, not too dim, not to bright.

DO NOT, DO NOT set this guy horizontally, it comes with some nice clip-on legs, please use them. Vertical is the way to go.

Do I have to have an active line in my home to use this with a router?
I don't have internet in my home and was wondering could I use this with a router to have access to the internet?

Yes, you do need an active line that a provider deems "active" to effectively use this device to access the internet. This device is a combo deal, it acts both as a modem and a router. But if you already own a router, then you can easily mute all routing functions, thus this would act as a modem only. But, before getting this gem of technology, I would suggest checking with your DSL provider to see if this device will work with their lines/system.

Will this work with AT&T Internet? And an Apple router?

Apple router, look.......This beut can act as a docile modem. You can mute all routing functions and simply plug whatever router you want. I had setup a router twice into this device. First time an older cisco, then a newer dlink. In both cases, it took about 4 mins to setup.
