I purchased this device in an effort to reduce my home entertainment costs. I already own the Apple TV but wanted to give this less expensive device a chance. What I am not happy about it that some of the apps do not have the ability to watch Live tv or just not available (for example I tried to download the ABC app (ABC News is available) and its not compatible with my Fire Stick. I watch a lot of tv shows on this channel and even tune into the local news when it airs live but this is not an option for me with the Fire Stick. I do like the ability to download other apps and add-ons so I downloaded Kodi and have caught up on a lot of movies I missed or wanted to see again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like the google chrome cast. I can watch tv shows and movies from my cell phone and tablet. I watch shows and movies through network apps and I also watch movies through online websites that I cast to my tv. I have not tried to cast through all of my apps but for those that I have used it works great. This is saving me on my cable bill because its one less box I need attached to a tv.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazon fire stick with Kodi
Hi Friends,
few quick questions...
1) Can I Install Kodi on fire tv stick
2) all I see from the remote is some fwd/bkwd stop play buttons, If I have to do some search (on kodi or you tube videos) how do i can accomplish it using this.
3) is it worth to try voice enabled fire tv stick (ie can we live without it without affecting much of our day to day experience with it)

1) Yes, I recently had Kodi installed on my Fire Stick. I didn't do it myself as the information I read stated that it was time consuming and tedious so I paid someone else to do it for me.
2) Yes you can search for content. When you get to the search page a keyboard will appear on the tv and you use the circular portion of the remote to make your selections.
3) I did not find a need to get the voice remote. I'm okay with using my fingers only to find what I am looking for. I personally don't think its worth the extra money.

It's a device that lets you stream tv shows, movies, and other online content such as You Tube and Netflix through your tv without the need for other devices.

can i control it with my phone data or do i need to have wifi at home?
I recommend connecting to your home WiFi instead of using your cellular data. I have found the speeds faster through the home connection versus the cellular connection.
