This camera is a great beginning DSLR. I got it for a photography class and so far it is working great. It is a great way to learn the basics. Having used now both a cannon eos and this, i would say they are pretty much equal, it just depends on which platform you like best and if you want the swiveling live view.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's the difference between both lenses?

The 18-55 mm lens is a standard adjustable zoom lens. The 55-200 mm lens allows you to zoom in further and get closer up shots.
